MIXED ROSE WEDDING BOUQUET

One of my all time favourite romantic wedding bouquets of Chantilly Roses and Freesias is what Kirstii and Chanel chose for their wedding on 14 November at the Indooroopilly Golf Club. I have produced this bouquet many times and I never fail to love it even more each time I have the privilege of designing it . The cream and ivory rose petals were carried through to the reception tables where we scattered a carpet of both the Chantilly and cream rose petals around the hurricane lamps on each table. Ben Clarke from Ben Clarke Photography photographed the day for the happy couple.

MUSICAL FARIES

Apart from my love of designing and producing wedding bouquets I had the special privilege of creating floral headpieces for the Silvan Strings Quartet to wear at a gig in which they provided some background music as "faries in the garden" for "The Botanique Fashion Parade" held at the Botanical Gardens at Mt Coot tha. Due to the impending storm the venue was changed from the Japanese Garden to the auditorium at the last minute. (The gardens would have been more suitable for the faries)

RED ROSE WEDDING BOUQUET

Glengariff Historical Estate at Dayboro Darren and Katrina were married on 30 October 2009. Katrina chose a beautiful rose wedding bouquet of deep red roses with a scattering of cream roses. The bridesmaids dressed in black carried the same the red and cream coloured rose bouquets. Darren matched Katrina by wearing a cream rose buttonhole and the groomsmen wore red rose buttonholes. The wonderful Stew from Stewart Ross Photography photographed the day for them whilst Anne Campbell the Marriage Celebrant performed the official part of the day.

ROSE WEDDING BOUQUET

Saturday October 17 saw the wedding of Liz and David at St Ignatius Church at Toowong.

The bridal bouquet were a lovely mix of open pale cream roses, mini ivory spray roses and white freesias. The 3 bridesmaids carried similar bouquets and the beautiful little flower girl carried a white satin basket filled with cream roses and white freesias.
The reception was held at GOMA at South Bank where the table centre pieces were placed on glass mirrors and the bridal table was adorned by swags of tulle and flickering fairy lights. The wind factor was an issue with setting up but as the afternoon wore on it settled down making finishing off the decorations a lot easier.

ROSE WEDDING BOUQUET

Saturday October 10 saw Carole and Bruce wed at Hillstone St Lucia Golf Club. Although I never got to meet Carole personally we were able to design a beautiful rose wedding bouquet in shades of pale pink roses and matching buttonhole for their special day. Congratulations to you both.

We carried the calla lilies though to the floral centre pieces which were added to tall vases with twisted willow and battery operated LED light again. Very spectacular at night. The ceremony had tall bamboo floral centre pieces as there feature in the rain forest.

BLUE WEDDING FLOWERS

Saturday August 29 saw Brad and Aiesha marry at Springfiled Lakes. Aliesha wanted to add touches of the right shade of blue to her wedding bridal bouquet. In endeavoring to find the shade saw me"spray dying" mini roses as the finishing touch. We combined these with white asiatic lilies and white roses in her wedding bouquet and that of her bridesmaids.

POSY WEDDING BOUQUETS

MAY MADNESS

Well May has come and gone !!!! - there was Mother's Day, my birthday, ABIA Awards and of course Weddings to be done.

Mother's Day is one of the florist's busiest days of the year with all those lovely Chrissie available ( as well as other beautiful flowers) beautiful large yellow and white disbuds along with single Chrissies in every colour of the rainbow. My Mum was the recipient of some beautiful yellow and white spider chryssies. As my birthday falls on or coincides with Mother's day every year - every thing but flowers is what i receive.

The beginning of May saw emails being received for the announcement of finalists of the ABIA Awards (Australian Bridal Industry Awards for Qld ) . For the past 4 years i have been lucky enough to have been a finalists in the Floral Design Category . Clients for the past 12 months ( brides and groom's) have to nominate you for an award under many areas in your category. Service, value for money, professionalism etc etc.

At the awards it's nice to catch up with fellow wedding industry suppliers as well as meet new ones. 6th place seemed to be the theme for our table this year. Sarah Jane ( Cake That) Toni Snell (Photographer) Cherisse (Make up artist) and myself were all awarded /voted 6th place in our respected categories. A good time and lots of laughs were had.

Saturday May 30
On a lovely Saturday afternoon Melea and Cameron chose Hillstone St Lucia for their wedding. The colour theme was pink and white. Her bouquet consisted of white roses and freesias, with white and pink lissianthius. She looked stunning with several white lissianthius in her hair. Her flower girl had similar flowers and Cameron and the Page Girl looked handsome in suites with white rose buttonholes. This theme was carried through on to the reception table pieces of simple rose petals, dodda vine and tea light candles. Melea was fantastic to work with and i wish she and Cameron all the very best.

WHITE TULIP ARM SHEATH BOUQUET

On Saturday afternoon Jessica and Michael tied the knot at "The Shed"@ Toowong Rowing Club.
The groom, his two groomsmen and 2 female attendants made a grand entrance arriving by rowing up the river to the waiting guests. After a quick change into formal attire we then awaited
the arrival of the bride, her 2 bridesmaids and male brides' mate to arrive also by river craft - a pleasure craft not rowing like the boys. The ceremony area on the lawn by the river was adorned by a rose petal isle and 2 bambo
o teepees with lush foliages and white roses which I constructed on site and then removed after the ceremony inside to the reception area. The girls all carried tulip bouquets which was carried through to the table arrangements of tulips and dodda vine in glass fish bowls. We then topped off the beautiful wedding cake with white tulips and dodda vine.
